Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 6: Part six of my extra special sales comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. MORUM TUBERCULOSUM: One of the BEST specimens I have ever seen. Ultra-dark blackish burgundy and white, with an exceptionally well-formed and beautiful pattern of triangles and dots. Perfection throughout. Hypermature, with markedly thickened outer apertural lip. Exquisite columellar side of apertural interior: a delicate veil of white, decorated with raised linear streaks, giving way to tiny beads within the aperture. Glassy, pink protoconch intact. Size: 36.4 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Off Isla Salango, Manabi, Ecuador; upon sand/mud/rubble substrate; 35 m; dredged. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
