Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 5: Part five of my extra special sales comprised mainly of exceptional specimens from my private collection, (indicated with JES provenance in description). Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. EPITONIUM PALLASI: A superb, ultra-large specimen of the exquisite Queensland form - the most beautiful incarnation of the species. Little known outside of Australian collections, this form exhibits a characteristic rich caramel, which contrasts to great aesthetic effect with the pure white of the axial ribs. Typical slight loss at protoconch as always at this extremely large size. Exemplary preservation of axial ribs for such a large specimen. A miniature jewel. Size: 30.8 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Keppel Bay, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 22 m; dredged; 1982. |
