Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 5: Part five of my extra special sales comprised mainly of exceptional specimens from my private collection, (indicated with JES provenance in description). Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. AMORIA UNDULATA: Just touching 100 mm, this superb specimen of this endemic south-eastern Australian species exhibits a bold and exceptionally well-formed pattern. Hypermature, with markedly thickened, ‘rolled’ and glossed outer apertural lip, and great weight to size ratio. Minimal typical sand abrasion to dorsum, always present in specimens from this uncommon extreme southern locality. Very few collections outside Australia would contain an example of this big, extreme southern Blackwater River form. For the Volutidae specialist interested in locality varieties. Size: 99.9 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Blackwater River, Tasmania, Australia; upon sand/silt substrate at extreme seasonal low tide; 1983. |
