Name | Cymbiola pulchra form perryi - very pretty , (Ostergaard & Summers, 1957) |
Size | 48.4 mm |
Locality | Qld., Australia |
Note | This shell is a perfect and beautiful example of one of the many shells that differ greatly in appearance in the genus Cymbiola that are found in Queensland, Australia that make up what is commonly referred to as the "Pulchra complex". (See "Visaya supplement 6 for a write-up by Bail and Limpus. Most of the shells in this "complex" are referred to as "Cymbiola pulcura forms" and while this is taxonomically incorrect, these form names are handy when talking about these shells which often differ greatly in appearance one from another. This shell, unlike many of the others that share this form name, does not have a black spotted pattern. It is a very pretty cream colored shell with traces on very light pink patches. |
