Item | # 0002044232 | Family | Cypraeidae | Name | Cypraea tigris - BLUE POLUTTED , Linnaeus, 1758 |
Size | 98,17 mm |
Locality | Zanzibar |
Note | In Zanzibar, there is a population of tigris in poluted water. These are getting scracer each year. I got lucky and had the opportunity to buy 6 of these shells. This polution results in a stone like appearance, present on the dorsal part near the siphon on this specimen. This condition is rare and very special, but this shell has even more to offer! Its bluish color is also higly sought after, the canals are in gem condition, making this shell a F+++/GEM grade and it is a very nice size, just not reaching the 100 mark. This is a specimen where all good elements are combined, a real treasure of the coasts of Zanzibar! We start at a nice price. Regular, non bluish specimen are worth this amount of money. I think this is worth double this amount, maybe even more! |
