Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. VOLUTOCONUS HARGREAVESI DAISYAE: A monumental specimen of the extremely rare and beautiful daisyae form, displaying the innumerable axial ‘ribs’ which characterise the subspecies. Enormous size, with great weight to size ratio. Although always dead-collected, this is virtually undetectable in the current specimen, which has the appearance of being live-collected, with full retention of gloss and living colour. One typical predatory mark to an early whorl, completely hidden upon ventrum. Perfect outer apertural lip and markedly elongate, recurved siphonal canal. Pin-point protoconch intact. A product of the legendary 1970s Taiwanese trawling operations undertaken off the Northern coast of Australia, and now obtainable only from old collections. A chance to acquire an extremely rare, high value shell via unreserved auction. Size: 117.2 mm (length). Grading: F+++.
