CYMBIOLACCA PULCHRA SUBELONGATA: An extremely large and superb specimen of this deep-water trawled, endemic Queensland species. Spectacular pattern, formed with uncommon regularity. Ultra-rich colour. Restricted smoothing to anterior region of outer apertural lip. Collected during the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls, and now obtainable only from old collections. Few specimens of subelongata were found of this size and quality. Size: 89.5 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Lady Musgrave Island, Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia; upon mud/sand/rubble substrate; 60-120 m; trawled; 1982. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
