Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 2: Part two of my extra special sale comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. MUREXIELLA TATEI: One of the world's rarest and virtually never offered Muricidae species. Usually dead-collected, this is the BEST live-collected specimen I have ever seen. Incredibly intricate and delicate micro-sculpture clearly discernible, (lost upon dead-collected specimens). Exquisite live-collected colour: ivory with particularly attractive golden tan accents below the sutures. Oversize, mammillate protoconch intact. An opportunity for the advanced Muricidae specialist to acquire an exceptional, live-collected specimen of this ultra-rare species. Size: 22 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Backstairs Passage, off Kangaroo Island, between Fleurieu Peninsula and Dudley Peninsula, South Australia, Australia; upon coarse sand/gravel substrate, at night; 35 m; dived; 1994. Provenance: 1. Peter Clarkson private collection, Port Lincoln; 2. JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
