Size | 132 mm, w/o |
Locality | New Zealand |
Note | from Paxton Point, New Zealand, on silty bottom at 4m depth, with full periostracum, with original operculum, live taken specimen shell. Monster size specimen of 132mm! Fantastic foliated margin with deep grooves and undulating body, and all preserved to absolute perfection without any damage and of course this is a natural shell which has not been filed to make it look gem. From the interesting 'Kiwi' population on the northern tip of New Zealand, such a beautiful piece does not surface on the market easily, and this one came in exchange from a naturalist and diver who stayed a couple of years in NZ back in mid 1980's. A fabulous shell with gorgeous dimensions, beautifully corded surface and absolutely free of scares, in fact this is a splendid cabinet specimen of largest size and very impressive. |
