Note | You will often see specimens of this shell offered as Sconsia lindae but S. grayi is a much earlier valid name for this species. The shell comes from a depth of about 100 feet and was collected about 10 years ago in the Gulf of Morrosquillo, Colombia. It is a gem, and that means a perfect, natural lip. There is a ridge almost in the center of the dorsum where growth stopped and started again. There is an interesting change in pattern at this point. It goes from a dot & dash pattern on the ventral surface to a beautiful, swirling pattern on the dorsum. |
