Size | 52.2 mm |
Locality | Eclipse Island, South Coast, WA |
Note | ONE OF A SMALL NUMBER OF TOP-SHELF SPECIMENS THIS MONTH ... It’s sometimes said that these marginata albanyensis are born with growth scars and chipped canals. They are the single worst species for defects and almost all of them never leave the bottom. This albanyensis "nimbosa" beats the odds measurably. An amazing shell with ivory / lemon colouring and a pattern swathing the entire dorsum. Base patterned with the darkest spotting (please ask for images). Ultra-mature, with chunky lower margins. Extremely heavy. As close to gem as I've seen, and I've seen a few. Has it all. One of the best quality examples of this species I have seen, and one to complete the albanyensis set. Grade: Gem-. Provenance: from my own collection. Taken on sponge / reef at 54m. Eclipse Island, South Coast, WA. DON'T MISS OUT! |
