Note | I have tentatively identified this specimen as penchinati, although it also has characteristics of other larger Philippine Chicoreus, and, due to the fact that this is the ONLY specimen I have ever seen exhibiting this combination of size and colour, I leave it to the Muricidae specialist to determine its ultimate taxonomic placement. Vivid orange-red, with rich pink accents to the fronding. Mammillate protoconch intact. An exceptional piece for the Muricidae specialist or admirer of truly exquisite seashells. Size: 60.8 mm (length). Grading: Gem+; w/o. Data: Off Balicasag, Bohol, Philippines; upon mud/sand/rubble substrate; 100-200 m; tangle nets; 2009.
