Size | 94.2 mm, w/o |
Locality | Australia |
Note | A rare giant specimen of this endemic South Australian form. Greyish lavender ground, decorated with broad spiral bands of caramel. As the Conidae specialist will know, this large subspecies has a particularly delicate shell for its size, and always exhibits natural irregularities. This is especially to be expected in a specimen of such advanced age as the current example. Specimens of this size are now obtainable only from old collections. Size: 94.2 mm (length). Grading: F++; w/o. Data: Off Taylor Island, Spencer Gulf, South Australia, Australia; upon sand/gravel substrate; 24 m; dived; 1992. |
