Iconic species. This is a compelling piece for many reasons - the perfectly preserved pink protoconch and apex, the delicate yellow splashes on the columella and inside the aperture, the impeccable preservation of the wing projections on the upper end of each axial rib and the total absence of chips along the outer lip and anterior canal. Extremely minor wear on some lamellae on the basal side if you want to be extremely critical, but it would be difficult to find a better one. Mauritian gastropods now protected, making this famous species much harder to get in recent years |
